That's sad, it's like being trapped inside yourself.

Stories like that always make you think twice..
Many peopel are quick to make and pass judgements. (sometimes I too am one of these people) After reading this, I think I will think twice a little more often.
Thanks.

wow.. its so amazing that she was able to find a way to express herself! i bet she feels a great load taken off her shoulders.
imagine everything youve ever felt or known being a secret, and not being able to share it. thats the way i perceive it. and it would drive me NUTS.
"If I could tell people one thing about autism it would be that I don't want to be this way. But I am, so don't be mad. Be understanding."
that particular quote brought a tear to my eye.

I have had my grandson since he was 5 weeks old, at 8 months I knew something was wrong, actually I knew right away at 5 weeks when he cried non stop, would not sleep and
I walked the floor with him for 3 years. him not letting me put him down, nor would he let anyone touch him.
I had him diagnosed at 2 ( they will not diagnose it earlier) and had every physical, occupational, and speech therapist come every week, sent him to a special school where its a ratio of 2 kids to one teacher. I was told by the doctors he would not speak, nor would he most likely be potty trained until he was 8. he was in fact severely handicapped.
Today he is in first grade, writes well, is reading so far advanced that the school is having a hard time keeping up. he is doing 2nd and third grade math, does some amazing building of blocks, and all kinds of structures from other building things.
I broke him of many habits autistic kids have, flapping hands, I taught him to always put his hands in his pockets, soon he stopped all together, I stopped him from lining up objects, twirling, and with all this he began to focus instead of being tuned out. I implemented a toilet training that had him potty trained by 3, and when I got his baby brother to raise I also potty trained him the same way.
Today these kids are smart, happy and well adjusted. my Autistic son who would never be more then a flapping, twirling, diaper wearing child, today fools even the doctors.
They are are to this granny, the loves of my life!! :)
he is the blond in this picture.
