im sure many of you are older than me and some of you are very young.when i first started in the hobby in 1965 metaframe was one brand of aquarium products that were in just about every Lfs you would go into.
their aquariums had the slate bottom and shiny metal frames and sealant that oozed out from all over.remember them?
what aquarium wouldn't be complete without the dyna flo filter ala hob.at one time i had about a dozen of them.metaframe made a lot of innovative products back in them early years.
who can ever forget(especially us old folks) the bottles of liquid glaze the fish shops sold.loved the smell of that stuff but it was potent.cant recall the exact name of the product but you merely poured it on the outside back glass of your aquarium and in a few hours the liquid would glaze over into beautiful colored sheens.
i could go on and on about products from the past but hopefully some of the older aquarist can chime in on products from the past.allwet.......

before my time. you might get a few replies here, but i bet general chit-chat would be a better place to reminisce. the old folks like rbishop hang out there.

What about RoanArt? Where's he/she? I remember back then he/she would give me some pointers on some things

I found a link with the old "Meta Frame" tanks - with photos.
Someone should 'keep' these tanks; if not for real, at least in photos.
MODS? There must be a spot an AC for this.

Thanks allwet, these tanks are worth "preserving" and remembering the
history of the hobby.

I have one of those too Q, sitting in the basement. The mirror finish is starting to chip off so it kind of looks like crap. I also have 2 metal-framed tanks with the slate bottoms, got both of them for free. One is being used as a sump, the other is waiting to get resealed.

jinkz if you ever pass through this way, you can have the 29gal I have. It needs to be resealed which is something I may or may not get to sometime in the near future, but it has a stand and right now its just taking up space in my basement.

my first tank, a 20L was a metaframe... the LFS has an aquarium museum, with all of this old stuff on display, some of it still in origional packaging!!

My first aquarium in the early 70s was a metal-frame 5g. I don't recall if it had a slate bottom, however. And I did use liquid crystal on a 29g tank. Blue-green, I thought it was neat. Kind of the shag-carpeting of aquarium decor. :grinyes:
