my wife claims i am addicted to this hobby. i spend probably 1 hr a day maybe a little more on my tanks and i go to an lfs at least once, twice, ok maybe three times a week. i do limit my spending though. i even sell frags, build and sell refugiums, mini tanks, etc... to help pay for my hobby. so maybe she is right? my question is is this a hobby or an addiction?

Hobby and addiction, no doubt. If you spend more time babbling to the lfs employees and correcting their mistakes, that's even better and leans towards addiction.

Tell, her to look at it like this....you are the fishes god. They are not like other pets you can let things go on here and there, they depend on you for EVERYTHING...what you do determines if they live or die, it is a big responsiblity that you didn't realize until you had them....YOU and YOU alone are their soul provider. LOL....if she still thinks you are wrong, tell her she is a bad person for making you be a bad god! Would she like it if her god took all food, air, comfort, or anything that determines if she lives or dies away??
Yeah, a little over the top but kinda true:)

Whenever my wife starts that kind of talk I start mentioning restoring old cars.
I could spend tens of thousands of dollars restoring or just buy a clunker to sit and rot in the yard while I keep putting off working on it.
Or spend what little I do on the tanks and have something nice to look at all the time.
