Ok, I know this sounds dumb, but the guppies I bought come out to have ick, so we lost 2 even before the ick showed up. the third is still doing well but had 2 small dots on his tail today an so did the other platty babies. my question is..... if I was to go buy more guppies, can I just put them into the tank I am treating now to be sure no ick, and let them go thru the process for 10 days? since loosing the 2 females, we have only one male guppy. Around here there hard to come by so when the pet store has them its not often! I worry if I get the fish in 10 days they may have ick to and have to treat all over again.
I know it sounds dumb, but buying now and treating do you think this is stupid?
don't ever add fish to a tank with disease

don't ever add fish to a tank with disease
And don't treat a fish with no sign of disease.

i think what he meant was dont add the fish. since it doesnt have ich, no need to add it to a tank thats being treated.
ahaaaaaaaaa....that makes total sense

I have done this exactly once. Was treating a tank for ich, found fish in the LFS that also showed signs of ich and so added them to the tank-in-treatment.
Incredibly stupid of course, because any which way salt/heat is stressfull, and so I lost most of the fish I added...
Just be patient. It took me a while to learn that lesson...
