I assume you already have the Barry White cued up.

I have 3, they are built into my CSL 192watt power compact hood. They make the water light a TINY little bit. It's really neat.

No Barry White, maybe something else..

I did plug it in and it looks good -- for one side of the 80 gallon..
I'll have it at an angle aiming toward the center some. Now I have to figure out how to attach it. The small screw that came with it won't allow an angle mount.

Oh wow! Get one or two of these... When the room is dark or just the TV on, etc... the Onyx Sand really seems to 'light up'!

This is better than I thought it would be..... From the looks of the LED this is not a regular low cost LED -- it's more intense..

LED = Light Emitting Diode

I'll have to unplug it and try it soon on the 10 gallon's Flourite gravel! And, our Nano Reef tank, and my friends 55 gallon Reef set-up.

Impressive.

Oh, I thought there was more to the box at first glance. I guess I'll have to place my order at Big Al's soon.;)

I did a search on Big Al's Online and didn't see them....

I paid $24.00..
Considering what one CF bulb costs, it's reasonable.

I've been thinking about getting a few of these myself from marineandreef. 22 bucks per light seems a little steep, is the effect that cool? How about a pic or two?

Jamie, I'll try and dig out my tripod and see if the digital cam I have will work with that low of a light source.

Would be a good camera experiment... :)

I used a 15 watt 50/50 for my tank. Very happy with they way it turned out. Not ex. "moon light" but it does give a nice effect,
the tank is fairley dark with just enought light to see everything.

I'm going to try for 2morrow night. I have my doubts they will come out, but it's worth a shot or 2! :D

It's sure is a good 'full moon effect'... I think only an LED like this can simulate it this good..

As I thought... the pics didn't come out due to the low light they put out. A better camera might 'capture' the look. :(

Maybe you could try with a light on behind you, could help.

So the picture is whack when it's pitch black except for the moonlight?

Here's the web link for the product: http://www.customsealife.com/moon-lite.htm although the picture of the girl is pretty bad. Yes, it's a white-light LED in a black housing. It sounds cute, but overpriced, and I don't think I could fit the housing in my hood anyway. This one is ripe for a DIY project. You know, I just got one of those Hummer flashlights, the kind you shake to make it light up. It's got a white-light LED in it, and I thought it looked a lot like moonlight.

Does it look anything like this? This is a tough pic to get. The camera really doesn't see the colors the same way the human eye does. I have shifted the white balance, and lowered the color saturation to make it appear more like it does to my eye. There is also too much contrast, with everything in the background now black.

Hmmmm, nothing with the ISO set to it's highest setting? Here is where the ISO1600 of a nice SLR would come in handy.

I have one of these on my 72 bowfront African Cichlid tank. Looks awesome. I mounted under my light strip in the center of the glass top. It is suppose to simulate moonlight (hence the name), which they say gives a better enviorment for fish spawning, I don't know if thats true but it does look great at night. I got mine from www.petsolutions.com I think it was about $25.00. If I can get a pic i'll post it.

fam1197,
Glad you liked the Moon-Lite. Hope others can get them...
If someone's aquarium is too high to see the gravel, then this Moon-Lite may not be effective. I like how the gravel (Onyx sand) lights up.. Again, I have 2 on my 80 gallon, and one on the Min-Reef. I need to get one for the little 10 gallon sometime.. :)
