will shrimp or other snails eat the eggs?

Shrimp might, if they're hungry and able to. Everyone I know that breeds A. spixi's have no problem with their populations being too small. ;)

would it be wise to just leave them there on the leaf or move to a floating breeder?

there eggs are really cool since they are clear you can see the developing babies through the sac. They are similar to apples in that there is a similar duration until they hatch (about two weeks). The babies are super tiny and super cute. These are prolific breeders, so watch out!! they often hide the egg clutches in plants. They are super cute!!! congrats on them, i have been trying to get them in my area for some time now but the permits are unattainable as they can interbreed with marisas and become big plant eaters. Good luck, and more pics! here is a link to a thread about breeding spixis: http://www.applesnail.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=17101&highlight=asolene+spixi&sid=28eeca524ddbd198d8377ccf8c3a6539

definately not to the us, I just applied for spixi permits and was flat out denied. I don't know about UK restrictions.

Yes, spixis are cute but a warning - I ordered 2 mystery snails from Rainbow Snails and received instead 5 spixis. I put them in my 60 gallon tank and I thought alright, lets see what develops. They started laying egg clutches and I was delighted. Within 2 months, the tank was overrun with spixis. Not only that, they ate every plant in sight including anubias and java fern. I transferred all of them, by now upwards of 100 snails, into an empty 10 gallon, where they now reside by themselves, eating anything I put in the tank. If I feed them regularly, either algae wafers or zucchini squash or yams, they start laying eggs again, which I remove. Just a warning.....

marisas and spixis can interbreed and cause plant eating spixi looking snails. Its why they are so restricted as there is not way to tell by looking if they are plant friendly or plant eating once interbred. here is a link to a thread:http://www.applesnail.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18597&highlight=spixi+interbreeding+marisa&sid=58d793ace9598626e3147329edab0eaa
spixis (pure ones) do not eat healthy plants if provided with an ample food source. There are reports of them eating/not eating plants but typically they are considered planted tank "safe" enough.

and no, they won't interbreed with common ramshorns, the giant(columbian) ramshorns are an apple snail species (marisa cornasomething or another)

I'd love to ship my 100 spixis off to the UK. But you'd eventually curse me for it. At first, I let them breed, but now feel guilty for allowing nature to get out of control. I guess I'll continue to remove the new eggs as they are laid and let the current population live the good life of veggies and algae wafers and die of old age.

Ahh! I just bought two spixi snails last week and today, I found small white beads on my glass! I'm so excited :) They're extremely hard to come by around my area.
Buying those two cost me a lot too! $4 ea :( but that's okay, luckily, it was a female and male and now it's going to pay off. (I saw them mounting yesterday, thought it was just cute but I guess they were mating. lol)

3 for me now :o My god, these guys just don't stop laying eggs! Not that it's a bad thing of course (not for me anyway)...
It's illegal to export them right? I want to try and locally sell them off so I don't have to squish them just to control the population.
