I have 2 Eclipse Tanks with flourite substrates. 1 is a 6 Gallon and the other is a three gallon. I have planted various moderate to low light plants in the tanks including Java Moss, various crypts, a Wendtii and a Microsword. The plants have been in the tanks 3-4 weeks and so far there has been no melting and all the plants look healthy. The java moss has grown quite a bit and it has been in the tank the longest.
I am wondering about whether I need to supplement with ferts. I have read mgamer's thread and while I find it interesting I don't think my small set up warrants the level of effort and expense required to piece together various elements. I would consider something like Flourish or Flourish Excel but am wondering if one or both are necessary, or useful or even potentially harmful. I am also wondering about lighting. Is it possible or even necessary to find a replacement bulb for these tanks that would be better for plant growth? Any opinions or experiences would be greatly appreciated?
