Has anyone ever used Blackwater Extract by Tetra Aqua? I was thinking of using it in my angel tank. I wanted to ask you guys before I went out and picked up a bottle. It says that it contains trace elements, vitamins and extract of peat. It replicates blackwater conditions by creating clear, “natural”, Amazon-biotope conditions in the aquarium. it promotes fish activity levels and is an excellent conditioner for all soft-water fish including Discus, Angelfish, Tetras and Killifish. Let me know if I should get some.

There was a long thread on this very recently, like within the past 2-3 weeks...lemme see if I can find it.

It is a little more than just "tannins" as suggested in that thread. Just adding driftwood or peat does not condition water the same way this product does.
Principal ingredients include vitamins B2, B6, B12, nicotinic amide (B3), panthenol (B5), biotin (B7 or H), and peat extract.
It conditions the water to be more similar to the "blackwater" conditions in the wild. I have used it in the past and was pleased with the results. While it is by no means a neccesity it is more like pampering your "blackwater" fish.

I used a similar product by a company called Morena. I used it for a while and didn't notice any difference so I stopped.

I have been using it in one of my tanks(15 gal tall in my sig) for about 6 months now. I just like the visual effect it gives. Kind of takes the glare off the white lights. I am on my second small bottle of it now and have not noticed any difference one way or the other as far as fish health.
