This is probably an easy answer for most of you, but without feeling like doing the research on my own (sitting in class right now)...i've noticed alot of people like to keep shrimp and snails in their tanks, along with the fish.

Why?

They obviously have a benefit, my guess is shrimp help to keep the bottom of the tank clean, and snails possibly eat algea? But, I could be wrong.

cause there so darn cute!! the shrimp we all love, and the snails mix up the subtrate. ( MTS do any ways) and they breed well. you can also put a few guppies in with them for fish look. we love our little tanks!

The shrimp are a low bioload colorful addition to a community peaceful tank. Some species of both snails and shrimp are good algae eaters. I keep them simply because i am fascinated by them and find them attractive.

I keep ghost shrimp because they pick up after my fish, and make nice snacks for my larg fish, I keep cherry shrimp because I love their color, and I sell them....I keep snails because they are adorable.. who couldn't love this face?

Yep, she was floating around with everyone's tubifex worms :p:
(her shell is so messed up because she's a breeder, and the eggs take alot of her calcium.. but she has a thick shell)

Thank you granny! :D
