I have 2 questions, one concerning my cories and the other about my snails.

#1. Apparently my fish have Ich for some unknown reason so I will have to start treating them for that... is salt bad for cories? I'm just going to do the raise the temperature and add salt thing.

#2. Since i'm using the salt treatment, I have to take out my snails. I was thinking I'd just put them with my goldfish in the 10 gallon until treatment is done so: a) will they be okay with the goldfish and b) how do I make sure the salt is completely out of the tank before putting the snails back in??

Its the fish in the 20g. being treated for Ich. If need be, the snails could go into the 50g. as long as they will be okay in that tank too.

Thanks.

Salt will be fine temporarily for corydoras as long as you dissolve the salt prior to adding it to the tank. Your snails are safer in the 50g as your goldfish will most likely attempt to eat the snails. Doing plenty of water changes will remove the salt.

If you can, add the dissolved salt gradually over a day or 2, the sudden change in TDS is hard on fish. Same thing when you're done, small frequent water changes.

snails can tolerate salt concentrations for ich treatment. Ideally its always easiest on them to remove them from treatment, but they can tolerate it. Goldfish, depending on their size, may try and munch them (or at least their antennae). When moving your snails, you do take the risk that they are harboring the "ich water". Water changes will remove the salt.
