i was at a lfs the other day and i saw a new product . i forgot who makes it. but what it is, basically an underwater light. lazer something or other. it promises for better health of your fish and water from the almost natural rays produced from the lazer, .. and it looks good too! or so they promise. anyway. does anyone know anything about this? one box shows two very hypnotised tiger barbs staring at the light., and another has some discuss superstars with poor photoshopped glitterring stars around their bodies. heh.

I wouldn't say it helps the fish... but I wouldn't say it harms them either

I doubt it actually helps the fish. I use them on mine at night. I have 3 blue and 2 green and put them on top of a glass cover to shine down through the water. Looks good and I can see my fishies when all the lights are out. I like them. Haven't seen any negative effects after about a year.

I've used these lights....blue,green,red,yellow at night to view my bottom nocturnals. However, I have noticed that my mid-water fish swim sideways when they get in the light. They resemble a drunk fish, therefore, I use them only occasionally. They do make the water look cool though.

I also have these lights -- and after awhile, removed them. They were ok on top where the glass center support is, but they just didn't "do much.." I tried them on the bottom of the tank, and they didn't look as good as when they were on top.

I replaced them for Custom SeaLife's Moon-Lites. The high intensity LED really looks good! I guess it simulates a full moon night as the product advertizes.. One of these for 2 foot of tank length is good. Oh - we also have an Eclipse 7 gallon mini-reef tank, and it looks great on that tank too.. (just one on the Eclipse) :)
