So I added more plants to my problem child tank. Earlier in the day I did an 80% water change as normal for the past few days. I go back a while ago and test the water again and I notice that a lot of the plants are making bubbles. One crypt and Indian Fern even had a line of bubbles come from them for a spell. No lines now but there are quite a few of them in there have bubbles like blowing up a baloon. I haven't noticed this in any of the other tanks with plants in them. Do plants only do this under certain conditions?

mine does it after a water change and about 3-4 hours after the lights come on. It's when the water becomes saturated with oxygen

for the most part..... its just air trapped under the leaf from the water change.

real peraling is when they do it on their own not after a water change.

Yeah I get lots of bubbles in my tank after a water change...I use well water, and it has a ton of dissolved gases in it, which come out of solution after the water goes into the tank. Looks kind of like pearling, but its not.

well....for the most part what I saw today was not due to water bubbles under the leaves. Especially the once that I would describe as blowing up a balloon. It was pretty cool to watch. I really liked the stream of bubbles that was occuring. One in particular was an Indian Fern plant. The bubble would form at the tip of a leaf and continue building as if being "blown" up until it seperated. Then would start all over again.

its since you already over saturated the water with o2.

an injured plant would bubble (leak) gases.
