I swear there used to be an equipment specific forum but i can't find it so here goes:

I've always gone the lazy way when buying new aquariums: i've bought them new, at full price from the LFS.

So I'm wanting to pick up a new tank again some where between 75 and 200 gallons depending on how good of a deal i can find.

I know it's possible to find used tanks and stands etc. but i don't know where to look or how much i should expect to pay as far as % of the new price and wear and tear.

by the way I'm prepared to do a little rehabbing if necessary as far as resealing the tank goes.

any good tips you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

check craigslist.com search in your local area craigslist .. key word "fish tank". You would be AMAZED.

Try craigslist and occasionally E-Bay. Lots of good quality used tanks for good deals from what I hear on MFK. Hope that Helps.

put a classified ad in your local paper asking to buy unwanted tanks/equip. In most places there are quite a few people who dont want tanks due to problems from not knowing what they were doing. Also go to your LFS if you have a proper one (not a wall-mart etc.), there's a large chance they get people coming in to try and get rid of tanks they dont want there.

Yes, Craigslist can be amazing. I've seen almost brand new setups on there for hundreds and hundreds less than new.

My favorite place to buy tanks: the local fish store during a 1 or 2 dollar per gallon sale.

Wow, wish the local LFS here would do that. There's another little pet shop about 55 miles from here that I buy my tanks/combos at...much better deals than our main LFS.
