5 gallon for CS tank

I setup a 5 gallon tank with a couple of plants from an established tank. I also had a sponge from a filter for a 5 gallon tank floating in my established for about two weeks and added it to the filter which is now running on my 5 gallon tank. Im going to make this into a cherry shrimp tank. Now my questions are these. One how long till the 5 gallon will get established. Or since Im only using it as a cherry shrimp tank and they dont produce a lot of bioload does it really have to be established like you would do for a fish tank?

If it's planted you should be fine. The bacteria on the sponge that was transfered over will gradually die off unless you have something producing a bioload in the tank. Since it's planted, you probably don't even have to worry about the initial bioload.
