Hello everyone,
I am setting up a new tank (I've already started a cycle) and I read in a book that you can use peat dust for a substrate. The tank is going to be an Amazon community, so I thought this might be a good option for a dark substrate.
To begin, where would I find peat dust suitable for an aquarium? Can I use crushed sphagnum peat for garden purpose in my aquarium? The only ingredient in the peat is Canadian sphagnum moss, so there is nothing else added. Are there any other sand-like dark substrates that I could use and readily find available. It's nothing I have to have, but it would look nicer, I would think.
