I have a 55 gal tank it came with the 2 24 inch hoods instead of the 48 inch one....My question is is there anyway i can change this to the single 48 inch hood, cuz there is a light fixture i want and it only comes in 36 and 48 inches??? there is a metal brace in the middle of the aquarium by the way that doesn't seen like it's suppose to be removed

i wouldnt remove the brace but you can get a 48 inch hood.

I agree with mg there is no problem using a 48" hood.

but will the 48 inch hood have a slot in the middle of it to fit correctly??

you could prob mod the new hood a bit to fit

The new hood may or may not have the notch for the center brace. All depends on the hood type florescent lights have them compact fluorescents do not.

ok, mine has the brace to, what you do is order the versa glass tops ( 24 inch) for both sides. then order your light. the light will sit right on top of the glass. :)

Great looking tank grannylvsfish! Nice set up! is that a back ground on the back of tank or the wall behind it?

Thanks Jamie, its a back ground. the first one I ever saw like mine :) I got it at petsmart a year ago. I fell in love with it! I dod some more work on my tank after this shot, I added live plants to it to . it looks way better.

love to see the updates on it. Is that a paper background or is it textured?
