Carbon - How to add to my sump?

I'm thinking of adding carbon to my tank to absorb my tannins from driftwood along with improving my water clarity.

I have a 210 gallon with a 55 gallon sump... Been up and running for 3 months. My reading are at zero for the main three for the last month.

I do 30% water changes every 4 days.

So my question is...... Do I just add carbon granules to a filter bag and toss it into the water in my sump? or do I throw into into the area where the bioballs are? Does it matter?

Put the activated carbon in a media bag and IMHO place the media bag in the chamber in which the return pump is located at the inflow location to the chamber.


Two additional items:

Your heaters appear to have internal thermostats. IMHO I would place them vertically on the front and back walls.

I am just curious as to why the air pump?

The air pump tubing goes into the main tank.

i would place it closely to in out going water. this way you can get the most flow over it as possible.
