I'm picking up a 25 gallon tank in the next few days, and I plan on making it a CRS / blue pearl shrimp tank, with a few bumblebee horn nerites and some MTS.

My question is: Will pygmy or dwarf cories work? I was thinking 6 pygmy, or 6 pygmy and 6 dwarf. Will they eat the baby shrimp? I thought their mouthes were too small, and they aren't nearly preditory... Will 6-12 tiny cories make a difference in a bioload? Should I go with 6 of each, 6 of one kind, or more of 1 kind and have just that kind in there? Thanks for the replies,

cories will be just fine. I am thinking about adding cories to my CRS tank as well. They will add to the bioload and if it was my tank I would go with more of a single kind just so they are more outgoing.

I keep my RCS with 5 pygmy cories. They get along really great :)

Thanks everyone. So, maybe 8-10 cories? Would a pair of scarlet badis work (just thinking how the place I'm getting the cories from also sells M/FM pairs of scarlet badis for 10$...)?

I keep mine with male and female scarlets + cories. Your shrimp will be fine, although the scarlet badis are a very curious fish. They will often swim up to a shrimp, stare at it and freak it out. I've never seen my scarlets eat a CRS though.

By the way, 10 dollars for a pair? That's a steal! Females are extremely hard to come by. I was lucky enough to find some at a fish auction but pet stores here rarely, if ever, carry them!

I have a 20 long with 9 corydaras habrosus, a sparkling gourami, and 8 cherry shrimp... and all get a long fine, the corys don't even bother the shrimp, my gourami swims up to the shrimp and I its almost like he is thinking "how can I fit you in my mouth"
