i recently started a planted 20g long tank but currently planting all the plants I want. As of now I'm wiating on my light fixture and deciding on CO2 System. Otherwise its 75% planted with rotolas, water sprite, moneyworts, ludwigia, hydros with 2" eco complete substrate, one medium size difwood. So far the inhabitants are 1 Bolivian Ram (1.25-1.5"), 1 German Blue Ram(1.25-1.5"), 2 Trilli Cory Cats(.75") and 4 (temp - to be moved in 2 months to larger 55g once larger) 1" CLown Loaches. All the bottom dwellers are doing very well in the tank - especially the loaches very very active funny fish look like they do figure8s against the wall for fun. However, the GBR owns the left side of the tank separated by the wood and the BOlivian owns the right side. Seems like they both claimed their own territories in the tank but I enjoy the nightly liplocking fights in the middle of the tank. Right now i'm not sure if I have space for any more fish.

I would like to eventually own apistos (1 pr) not sure if it would work with the rams already claiming their sides in the tank ; otherwise some sort of schooling fish (harlequins, cardinals or neons). Other suggestions for any special or cool fish is welcomed or suggestions for more tightly schools of fish.

If you want another pair of apistos (rams are from that family), you should trade one of your current rams for the opposite sex of the one you keep. i.e. if you keep the GBR and it's a male, get a female GBR by trading in your Bolivian. Two pairs of apistos could live in the 20 long and have enough area for territory. If you keep the GBR and Bolivian, you can't add another pair of apistos. They won't have any territory and there will be constant fighting.

I think you need a bigger tank.
