I am trying to re-home my mudskipper tank as it is just getting overwhelming w/ 3 tanks, a dog, and the lady's critters. I will be very sad to see them go.

Livestock: 4 Indian Mudskippers, 1 fiddler crab, 3 ghost shrimp, fist sized clump of Java Moss - $30 - I will hold them while you cycle a tank

Livestock + Equipment: $150

Equipment includes:
30 gallon tank
Stand
Dual T8 bulbs/fixture (you could grow mangroves if you wanted)
Heater
Glass top
Zoomed 501 canister filter
Play Sand
Few pieces of Mopani wood
Other decor as pictured.

These are BRACKISH fish! I mostly feed blackworms and crickets because it is fun to watch them hunt, but they will accept frozen foods too.

I would only like to do pickup at this time. If I can't find anyone locally, I would then consider shipping the livestock.

Let me know of any questions...

I think we all want to be closer... Bump!
[And let me know if you plan to be near NYC, Notre Dame, or Louisville any time soon- I'd take the skippers.]

I have an empty 30 gallon tank and enough filter media on the active tanks to set it up pretty quickly. Might be able to pick up this weekend, how long have you had the 'skippers?

I have had them since July '07 I believe. They were much smaller then - I believe them to be full grown now.

Sorry I can't live all over the east coast :)

How much salt do you use for them? Instant Ocean mix or rock salt? Will FW bacteria tolerate brackish water, or will the tank need to cycle from scratch? What temp do they prefer?

You need to use saltwater mix - I use Instant Ocean. I use about 1/4 of marine level which brings the water to ~1.005. You don't really need to be exact - brackish critters by nature are tolerant of salinity swings..

The folks here on the Brackish forum recommend raising the SG slowly over a few weeks to allow the bacteria to adjust. I personally haven't gone from FW to brackish so I don't have any first hand experience. I would think the mudskippers would be fine once you got to about 1.003.

I keep my tank at ~80 degrees Fahrenheit. The main concern for them is keeping it humid in the tank - they need the air to be wet. Usually the heater in the water is enough to keep the glass quite foggy in my house but I guess a different climate could change that.

I think it is important to mention that since you are providing so much land space, the water volume in the tank will be very low. I usually have about 6-7 gallons in the 30 gallon tank. So you have 4 fish that are ~4" in 6 gallons of water, you have to make sure to do your upkeep on the tank regularly. Mudskippers are quite hardy and tolerant of poor water conditions, but I don't think that means you SHOULD keep them in bad water, and it will certainly contribute to algae problems and things of that nature if you do.

I still have these guys. I will ship the livestock if somebody is interested. If you are in one of the states adjacent to MD, we should be able to get overnight via ground shipping which will be pretty cheap. PM me your zip and I will check it out.
