This is my first planted tank. I got all excited and bought a whole bunch of plants, but I have no idea what most of them are. I currently only have a 15w bulb in there. Is that enough? Do I need to fertilize them? Should I prune them like regular plants? I need help from the aquaplant gods...

whats your tank size?? 20g?
1- you would need sufficient lighting (take X(watts over tank)/# of gallons in tank = Ywpg) i would suggest 2.0+wpg to keep the plants growing
2- you do not need ferts but they wouldnt hurt (lighting is priority then ferts)
3- you would have to trim them when they grow, can replant the tops and scape the plant how ever you want

You may not even have aquatic plants--maybe even bog plants.

I will try to post some pictures a little later today. I bought most of the plants at Petco, and they didnt say what kind they were. I would really appreciate help identifying them. I think at least some of it is java fern.
Currently I have a 10 gal tank. Hoping to upgrade soon though. The wpg equation seems helpful. Thanks!

Curses! petco jerks. I should have learned by now...
Anyway, here are a couple pics of the plants I have not identified.

Look like bog plants to me, will not survive underwater. Except the stem plant--looks like hygro, but not sure. need pics of each plant.
