Hello,
I was wondering if any T5 ballast would work for aquarium lighting? I know I should use light bulbs that are specificaly for aquariums. But what about the ballast. I was looking around for lighting and it would be much cheaper to buy a ballast from a local light store than to buy one from an LFS, or mail order.

There's no reason you have to use aquarium bulbs.
