I just have a quick questions about my hornwart. It is browning at the tips.. and I was wondering if it was recieving too much light... I have one of the 10g. walmart setups with a flouresant bulb on one side(the side with the hornwart). Is this causing the hornwart to brown... Do I even need a special light to fullfil the needs of the plants, or can I use regular white lights that came with the aquarium?

It might be a light issue with your hornwort, how long have you had it? it also may be a temp issue also. Hornwort is a cool water plant and tends to like its water in the 70's or near room temp.
If you do try to keep hornwort, i would try and use a plant bulb, they do like bright light, but once you got it growning, it is a weed.

I keep it in an unheated aquarium, so the temp maybe reaches 76 in the summer and 72 in the winter. I have had most of it in the tank for about 3 months, but now that I think about it, I took some of it out of an unlit tank, which the light shock might cause the browning (kind of similiar with house plants that go from indirect sunlight to full sun and burn? maybe?). Most of the ones that have brown are the ones taken from that tank. Thanks for your help :)

I really doubt it is too much light exposure. I have hornwort floating directly under a 55 watt power compact bulb and the more light it gets the greener it gets. The water level is high, so the edges that trail off to the areas where there is minimal light coverage on the surface will yellow out and eventually turn brown if I don't push them back into the light. The only other time I saw it turn brown was when it pushed up into the air (it is a true aquatic and cannot survive unless immersed).

My Hornwort has been growing in my tank almost uncontolably for 3 years now. If I go any longer then 2 weeks to trim it, it covers the whole top of my tank. My summertime temp in my tank reaches 82 degrees. My winter temp is 76 degrees.
