Hi I was wondering what you people feed you big cichlids. I feed my Jag Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold. Also I was wondering if this is all she would need to stay healthy. Her colors are coming in better then when I was giving her the Hikari Cichlid Gold.

You can feed your Jag fresh meat too.
Here is a site where you can prepare your fish some home made fish food.

I give my green terror canadian night crawlers whole as a treat. He LOVES them. Great high proteine food source that you dont have to worry about disease from.
Worms are awesome. Try some shrimp too. My fish go crazy for it. There are also many different brands of pellet. I think the omega one pellets are better than the Hikari.

If youve got the time then the link that i gave to peifc that was provided is a good project. For the large cichlids i feed them large Superworms from www.wormman.com I also feed fresh raw Jumbo shrimp that I get at the grocery store. You can cut it into pieces or feed it whole depending on how big the fish is. HBH makes a good pellet "Soft and Moist" and it can be ordered with either krill or spirulina in it. I founf the frill nmakes th efish pretty fat too. I get that at www.Jehmco.com they also have a few other really good cichlid foods. You can also try bay scallops, chunks of whitefish, and nightcrawlers are good if you have a reliable source.
Thanks alot Guys. I just needed to know other good foods for my Jag. When she was on Hikari Cichlid Gold she got tired of it pretty fast. She seems to love Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold though She loves it. Oh I read some where (unsure where) they feed flies to there fish and it suppost to be good for them. My house gets alot of flies because everyone here has a tail and doesnt close the door. Would they be safe for the fish or would they get my fish sick??? Thanks alot for the info.
