All,

It looks like all my tiger barbs have a white crust growing on their eyes. They rest of them look fine, it's only their eyes (as of now) that look bad. I'm guessing since this is white that this is maybe a fungus???? It does look more like white crust and it's not the puffy white fungul stuff that I've seen in fish books.

I don't have a camera, so I can't post a pic.

Water parameters are all normal. However, I moved last weekend and the barbs have acted majorly stressed until about last night. My new apartment and old aparment are only about 30 miles apart and both have the same water source. There was no ph shift, etc. I think that the fish just got overly stressed from the move and developed this condition. I have been treating with Melafix since Wednesday when I first saw a tiny bit of the white stuff but today it exploaded and is covering their poor eyes.

My guess is that I need to use something to treat fungus, assuming that's what this is. Anybody diagnose this?

Thanks!

Going downhill fast :(

Within 30 minutes of posting the message above, the stuff started to spread. It definately looks like a white fungus. I've never seen such a fast spread though. I got to the lfs and bought some fungicide. Hopefully, I caught this in time.

I would add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons, and start dosing them everyday with quickcure (1 drop per gallon unless you have "scaleless" fish). Only add the salt once.

Yep, I didn't mention it but I did add salt today. I hadn't heard of the quickcure, I'll look into it if the stuff I'm using doesn't work. I don't want to add too many meds at once.
