You mentioned in a post on FW that you have a Millenium 3000 that you hated, because of a water intake problem. Would you care to elaborate?

I haven't bought a filter in 10 years. I have three Second Nature W/D 3000 filters, which I love. I've seen the Milleniums and since the 3000 nomenclature is so similar, I've been thinking that they must be similar, and I've been leaning towards them. One of the impeller motors is starting to make slight whirring noises, so I want to be ready to replace it when it dies.

Your thoughts would be appreciated....

The primary problem I have with the M3K filter is that if it gets even a little bit clogged up on the media, all of your water ends up completely bypassing it, rendering the filter pretty much pointless.

That was the primary reason I switched to a canister type of filter (besides the unsightly nature of a HOB in general).

There are a couple of HOBs that, as I understand it, don't allow water to bypass the media. The Aquaclears come immediately to mind (very inexpensive from Bigal's as well) and the HOT Magnum is also a mini-canister in its own right.

Generally, IMHO, there are much better options out there than Milleniums.
