hello.

i have a piece of live rock in my tank that, shortly after i purchased it, lost most of it's algae. but now, i'm beginning to notice an almost neon-green color starting to form on part of it. it doesn't look slimy or anything, just kind of like a neon-green dusting. is this anything i need to worry about? i saw on one website that it might be cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), but i don't think i have any anaerobic/stagnent conditions in the tank as i have a bubblestone and a koralia 2 powerhead in the tank. any advice?? thanks!

Sounds like coralline to me too....I've noticed more and more people reporting green coralline growing in their tanks...one wonders is something is changing in the products we use these days with regards to lighting and calcium products..makes me wonder sometimes....

thanks guys! i'm glad to hear it may be corraline. i was just afraid i'd wake up one morning and it'd be covering my entire tank. i've heard some horror stories circulating out there. and i'd gladly post a pic for further identification, but i don't own a camera :( if i can get one of my friends to loan me theirs i'll get one up.

I actually have an olive green colored coralline. Most of my corraline is lavender, some is reddish/purple and some is olive green. It grows in circular patches and is calcified. It's actually attractive and offsets the purple color.
