my bulkhead is 1" and the drain pipe is 1 1/4". its making so much draining water sound inside the pipe. :help::help::help::help: i could hear this $hit from 10 ft away. i tired all the method following: overflow box, air valve with tubing and making different sizes of holes.
p.s: is it possible that 1" bulkhead cant keep up with 1 1/4" pipe? meaning when it drains theres some spaces inside the pipe.

where is the hole located, and have you thought about putting a valve on the 1 1/4" pipe to possibly limit the amount of trickling water ?

Did you google Gurgle Buster (http://home.everestkc.net/jrobertson57268/HGB/HGB_construction.html)? Or Durso Standpipes (http://www.dursostandpipes.com/)? Or Stockman Standpipe (http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/standpipe/standpipe-ken_stockman.htm)?

1st and the 3rd ones are only for internal overflow. i have external....tired the 2nd one with no luck. it doesnt make any gurgle noise, only draining sounds from INSIDE the PIPE....no one has experienced this before?
I don't, but that might be because I use spa flex and it isn't a straight drop so the water slows down a bit?

omg i cant believe i just realized 45 degree elbow made noise lower!!!!! yes gins your right, slowing down makes lesser noise but the pump will be too strong(getting a smaller pump later on). the 1 1/4" makes too noise than a 1". ima switch it to 90 degree from a 45 and see what happens.
whoever made a website saying *if you go with 1" bulkhead you should go for 1 1/4"* is a bs!!!!

^ this website sucks, dont believe them, i tried everything and it makes more noise than ever!

ehhh not a much a difference from a 45 to 90 =/
i missed my old fw when it was dead silence

I think you meant the other way.. 1st and 3rd both work on my EXTERNAL overflow box.. second one I can't do because it is too tall for an external.
Also, like Grins mentioned, you can get some FlexPVC pipe and curve/bend it anyway to see fit... if that would help.

Personally, I use that black "ribbed" flexible 1" tubing for mine.. seems to slow it down and aerate at the same time.

Mine is like the black but it is grey.
