my amazon sword has a shoot coming from it about a foot long, and at the end are 4,2 inch or so leaves, can i just cut it as close to the stem as i can and plant it in the substrate?? will it root itself in a few days?
thanks very much, first day in the forum and loving it :D

best just to leave them as long as you can. the mother plant is supporting them wait until they get a couple more inch and better root system.

well the longer you leave it it will shoot out more and more of them. 4-5 inch should be fine.

you do cut the hole stem. if you just leave it it will keep sending off runners.
Lots of plants grow like this not just aquatic plants, grasses and strawberries do this as well if you leave it growing as is you will soon have a tank full.

Just try to get the new ones out of there before their roots get too entangled with Mom's (which, if it's sending off shoots, are probable running all over your tank).
