Assuming they are well (but not over) fed, how long does it take most African cichlids to reach full size?

What type of Africans? From which lake?

Hard to say really. Mbunas from Malawi and Frontosas from Tanganyika are different as are all the rest.

Could you be a little more specific please?

Do you know what fish you want to know about? Mbunas or something else?

Well i got a rusty about 5 months ago and it was only 1". Its now 2". They aren't the fastest growing fish but they aren't the slowest.

Yea, if it's Mbunas, they grow relatively slow. Not as slow as a festae, but not as fast as a Midas or Oscar.

They only get around 4-5" max for the most part.

To reach full size i would think would take about a year or more. But i know of some malawi haps that take years to even start getting their mature colors.
