i have a 180 gallon acrylic tank. i bought two 300 watt submersible heaters for it. they will be in the refugium under the tank. will that be enough to get the tank to at least 75 degrees and how long will it tank to heat it up. or do i need more heaters. i can only find 300 watts.

I don't know the answer to your question but I do know that with the two existing heaters you have you're already drawing 5 amps- adding two more you'll be up to 10 amps......

Perhaps you already know this but you probably need a seperate circuit just for heaters.

Refugium???

your tank is indoors?? and the ambient temp of the room is ??

your 2 300 watt should be fine.

I use two 300 watt heaters on my 180g tank and they heat my tank with no problems.

yes i dont know what to call it a freshwater refugium or not, my overflow goes to a 20 gal under my 180 gal and then 2 pumps put the water back through the returns.

What is the temperature of the room the tank is in?

I have one 300W heater on my 220G tank that is in a room heated to 68F & it is enough to keep the tank at 78F.

it would be a refugium if there was live plants and/or critters growing in it, otherwise you've just got a sump.

Do you have any other filteration?
A 20g sump isn't big enough for a 180g tank.

should be fine. though i would get a 3rd one and place in the tank. if anything ever happens and the sump stops you dont want your main tank to cool down.

yeh i will have a canister filter pumping water from the sump to the return and also a hob filter on the sump too i think that might be enough

I have 3-250 watt stealths in my 125. 2 set on 88, and one on 80 usually only 2 of them are on. sometimes only 1. and my temp is usually right at 82.
