my thermometer broke and sat all day....:eek:

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand. You mean like there's mercury everywhere, in the tank? Sorry big kahuna, bit of clarification please:D
i have one of those floating thermometers with the suction cup.
I noticed it laying on the sand... grabbed it right away and noticed on the top there was a perfect round hole in the glass. All the insides didn't look like they came out. (the red stuff and the mercury balls....)
should i do about 4 water changes!?
Don't worry. The red stuff is just coloured water and it is separated in its own tube. The little balls aren't mercury, they are either lead or steel, and most likely steel. They are meant to make sure the thermo floats the right way. Just throw it away and get a new one.
