When will they start weighing students? It's all about the 'wellness' right?
What's next for them?

That is just nuts!! Seems like all around the country we're going absolutely overboard on ridiculous issues and still not addressing serious issues with as much gusto!

My towns has a group of moms that wants to make a one time group birthday celebration in school because they think that the kids eat too much cupcakes and candy by having birthday celebrations every other month or so. This is getting to be so ridiculous. My sons birthday is in July so he will never be able to celebrate in school but I'm not gonna jump on board with this crowd.

When I was in school, you would be EXPELLED for the remainder of the year fro throwing food.. I kid threw a french fry at another kid in the cafeteria, and was expelled, But I beat up a kid, and only got detention...

utter crazyness...

 but i beat up a kid LOL  at my highschool ( small suburban area ) BOTH kids are suspended for fighting.. my friends in gr 9 and was punched in the back of the head,so he turned around to say i dont wanna fight you .the kid busted his nose,( this was gr 12 by the way ,he was huge ) ... so after having his nose busted my friend fought back, and actually won! then he was suspended.. originally for a week, then for 2 fr swaring at the principal for the bull **** call he made.... apparently my friend should of come and told a teacher about the incident and let them dea with it.. ya ok..............

This is one of those cases that as a mom I'd go in there and set them straight CC..lol. It is too bad the kid lost out on going to his dinner though.

When I was younger than you (I was 13 I think) I was invited as one of 2 students to meet with the school board and all the principles of the school district middle and upper school levels to revise the student handbook.

These adults fought like cats and dogs and were making this ginormous list of things students couldn't do. You'd have had to kill several forests to have printed it. So little ole me, probably about 4'7" at the time raises my hand and says "With your way the kids are just going to find what you didn't list and do those. Why not make it simplier and just give us guidelines on what we should be doing. Seems more positive and you'll get more of us buying into it."

That shut them up pretty quick and I think they must have been embarassed that a 13 year old came up with but sure enough that is what they did and how the handbook stayed until I graduated.

The green ones make me... oh what?

Yeah they pulled the vending machines from my highschool when I was a senior, but did nothing about the almost daily drug selling and radio thefts in the parking lot till they put cameras up three years after I was gone. Sometimes you have to wonder how they expect the next generation to grow up to be responsible adults when they themselves can't figure out priorities.

When I heard this on the radio last night My son who is 14 was shocked then informed me they are not allowed to have a bottle of any kind in school because it might have alcohol.

Then a kid called into the radio I missed the school but they can't bring in cupcakes for their birthday. He said a friend brought them in and they were confiscated. ( yea they went to the teachers lounge )

Schools need to focus on teaching which they aren't doing. I have one in private school and one in public what a difference. The one in private school is so far ahead of the one in public it should be a crime and I live in one of the so called best school districts in the state with being in the top 10% off all schools.

my god...some school rules are complete bogus nowadays.

my high school just implemented a rule that you cant be wandering around school after hours unless you are in a "supervised" activity or in the library. instead you have to wait in a classroom or outside until your ride comes. makes sense except for whenever I go to my locker before or after jazz band I get interrogated. things are waaaay overboard IMO...

thats ridicoulous.... no bottles because one kid vrought alchohol to school... this has always happened, even when my parents where a kid,and it really wasnt a big problem, because the teachers knew how to deal with it... the no bottle thing is the techers being lazy..... and how long before theyve got a human rights complaint on there hand LOL what kind of country do we live in where you cant drink a bottle of water??

There have been quite a few students that have been busted for drinking alcohol in class at my high school, but restricting students from having any is dumb IMO.

You are not going to be a made man at this rate.

I wonder if it was because they were homemade? In NC the health department won't allow home baked goods in public school situations where children are involved.
