I went to my LFS today to get some aquarium salt for my 20 gallon because my fish have ich, and i ended up purchasing another 20 gallon with canopy a and heater for a great price (for my Molly fry.) I am so excited to get them in there. He also threw in a "quick and easy" corner air filter for my babies. I am thinking about just leaving the tank clear of gravel. Hopefully they will grow a little faster now that they have the extra room.
I do have a question. Are there air pumps out there that are on the quieter side? The one i have is super noisy. Also, what is the price range?

they should grow better with there own tank for sure.i have guppy fry, molly fry ad swordtail fry and they all benefit from being in there own space without thinking there going to get eaten.

bare bottom is nice makes it easy to clean. try putting a towel around the pump. this will cut the noise down.

whisper pumps are pretty silent.
when they grow large enough, you can probably move up to a HOB filter. penguins have intakes with pretty small slots in them.

i have no idea what a HOB filter is, i'll have to google it. i have seen people talking about Penguins, are they just a name brand of filters? I have an Aquaclear 30. not sure if that means anything to you. It could just be a goofy filter (i have no idea). My fry are doing great in there though. I can't believe how much i have been worried about them though. I check them constantly all day to make sure they are healthy. I have about 60 in there now. Having it bare has made it super easy to keep clean though. Makes that part of my life easier.

HOB stands for Hang On Back. the AC30 is a great filter, just throw some screen or sponge over the intake and it'll be fry safe.

ok, i actually cut a piece of nylon out and put it over the intake, it is working for now, but i think i might replace it with some sponge so more water can get through. Feels good to know that i have a decent filter, thanks for letting me know. :)
