he there its been a while since i been on the forums, but today i went to the petshop and i came home with "spikes", spikes is a 7" lion fish, he was on sale so i thought i would grab him, i brought him hom and threw him in the tank, ofcourse i let the bag sit in the water for about 5 mins so that the temp get right, when i put him in the tank he met my others fish, the clown, the chromis, and the pj cardnil! they seem to get along great, every now and then they all play a game of tag, it is so fun to watch spikes try to tag the other fish! he doesent hert them just gives then a quick nip, and the other dart right away before he has time to catch them, then the clown tries to hide but spikes is smart and just waits for him to come out, and when he does he trys to get him again, i have only seen him tag him once, he ripped a lil peice of nemo's tail on accident, but i think he learnd how hard to nip when playing tag, well i will post pics of spikes and the crew in a few weeks when they are all settled and my tank is looking 100%, well talk to you guys soon, and thank you all so much, this would have never been possible without all your help!
thanks again,
Shane

yup! well it ws a little longer than 5 miniutes, probly closer to 10!

Your acclimation procedure was just a partial temperature acclimation.

To fully acclimate, you may want to float for 15-20min, then place the new fish in a bucket and drip acclimate for 30-60min (to acclimate the new fish to the salinity, and pH of your water).

yeah fish don't really play tag for the fun of it...they usually have a more permanent ending in mind, and from what I've heard about lionfish....you might have yourself a species tank soon enough.

you should throw in a porcupine puffer while your at it and get the feast going man. plus your tanks waaayyyy to small for that lionfish. yeah theyre cool, but not cool in that small tank with 3 other fish. youve got too much of a bioload now.

yikes, what were you doing when you visited the forum? Not to be rude, but certainly did not do the research on the fish, acclimation, compatibility, etc. I would really suggest taking the lion back to the LFS unless you plan on a much larger tank. I am not sure of the exact species, but when I was at the Manteo Aquarium in NC, they had a volitan lion of some sorts and its body (Not including the spines) was a lot bigger than my head.

Also, your stock will become a snack for him. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but they will be. All are incompatible with lions. Other fish might nip at other fish, but lions don't. They engulf. my bet is, those fish barely got away before becoming a meal.
