A question for people who have container ponds. What kind of filters do you use for your container ponds? I'm looking for a good filter for my 80 gallon container pond. All the ones I ever see are for much larger ponds or are for in ground ponds. I wouldn't mind making a filter for my pond myself. I just don't want to spend a lot of money on one if I don't have to.

Sponge filter. You will still need an airpump and tubing to run this. Simple filter, great bio. It will keep the water moving and support a few fish. They can also be stacked.
The only problem I have with them is especially when they are new they tend to float! I finally siliconed a small piece of slate rock to the bottom of one and solved that problem quite quickly!
This will not take away the need to clean the pond out at least twice a year. In fall to remove all the dead gunk that has accumulated on the bottom for a clean pond going in to winter.
