I have a Blue gourami and he has successfully killed the 2 platys and the other gourami that I had in my tank. I would like to put more fish back in but dont want them to get eaten too. I was just wondering what kind of fish I could put in that would hold there own against this killing machine. :help:

I have a 10 gallon tank, I just started it up about a month ago. Ive done all the water test and there where there supposed to be at. So the water quality is pretty good.

i don't think you should add anything else. not enough room to add a larger fish, and not enough hiding space for smaller fish. the tank size is a factor in the gourami's aggression.

Besides that three spot gouramis in general are pushy and can be agressive, they usually fight/kill other gouramies and anabantids. The tank he is in is very small for his potential 6", and he needs a large territory. You should return him, because he will just outgrow your tank and attack anything you put in.

Thanks much for the info. I guess the guy at the pet store didn't know much about fish... as neither do I. What is a good stock of fish for a 10 gallon tank?

So what does your ammonia, nitrite and nitrates read? In exact numbers. By a good liquid test kit?

depends on aereation, water changes.Would a school of otos and neons be too much?

Replace the blue gouramis with sparkling gouramis or Hyphessobrycon amandae. Otos or pygmy cories would be your best bet for bottom.

Lupin's idea seems very interesting, miniature versions of fish

:iagree: with lupin for the stockage, except the otos might not be a good idea because of their feeding requirements.

Really? I read that they enjoy eating their young once they hatch... :lipssealedsmilie:

if ammonia and nitrite readings depend on aeration, you have a problem in your tank. water changes i can understand for reducing the nitrate, but the others should always be at 0.
