I have a Have a stealth 250 right now and I am thinking i'd like to get my heater out of the tank, so was looking at inlines. good, bad? good ones to look at? I have a 55g 36x18, best wattage to get, was looking at the Hydor ETH 300 In-Line? does it matter where i hook it up, or do I need to make sure i hook it up before my co2/air pump diffuser?

The hydor-eths have a good reputation. They're plumbed into the return line from the filter. Where do you have your CO2 plugged in?

wouldnt hurt. get one and put it in the return line. if your doing co2 its prob in the return line right.....

I have two Hydors- the 300w and the 200w. The 200w is placed on the output side of the Eheim Pro II 2026 on a 50 gal. I also push pressurized gas through that filter by having the co2 discharge inside the sponge prefilter on the intake.

While it is better to have the inline heater on the output side of the filter, this was not possible on my 75 gal. inwall where I have the 300w. It is placed along a fairly long intake run to an Eheim Pro II 2026. This tank does not use supplimental co2.

I have had these heaters for almost 3 years now and they have worked quite well and I am very satisfied.

the CO2 is on the output side of an eheim 2217. I have both the CO2 and a nighttime airpump running through the diffuser (PVC type). I know CO2 can have an effect on seals, so i was a little concerned with putting it after, but it would be a lot easier since the inline heaters are supposed to be vertical, correct?

I have one verticle and one horizontal. Once the co2 is in the water, what difference does it make where in the system you have the heater as it will be exposed to the co2 on either side.
