sorry to post so many threads on here, i'm just new at this and have lots of questions!
i only have three fish right now because i've lost some of them to ich. i have two damsels (a yellow tale and a humbug) and a dartfish (or firefish goby, i've seen them called both). i thought all my ich woes were over cause i've been using coral vital from marc weiss, and it really did the trick. however, i think i might see some spots on the humbug, but he won't hold his fins still enough for me to get a good look. also, he's got pop-eye (i just noticed this a few minutes ago). i'm really attached to the little guy, but should i keep him in the tank? i don't have a quarantine tank set up, and am leaving town for a week tomorrow. should i (dare i say) flush him, or chance leaving him in the tank and hope he gets better/doesn't infect anyone else??

Please don't flush a live fish. If it already has ich, then everything else had already had/has the chance to get it, so flushing it won't solve anything. The only thing I can tell you at this point is to get your water parameters tested and see if there is an issue.. Coral Vital, despite claims, will not cure ich (not by any means). Then, look into getting a quarantine tank as soon as you return.

thanks for the advice guys. i'm actually getting ready to leave for the week (i think i found someone to come by and feed my tank), and i can't even find the little guy. my guess is he's hiding in the rockwork somewhere. i hape he makes it. if not i guess he'll be a snack for my star/shrimp/crabs.
If it were me, I'd be sure to deal with the ich issue when I returned.

i'm planning on it. as of now, if the humbug did die today, then i only have 2 fish left, a yellow tail damsel, and the firefish goby/dartfish. if something happens to them in my absence i'm just going to let the tank go fallow for a while, and just enjoy all the other great things i have in there. i just got some awesome live rock yesterday with tons of feather duster babies and 4 coral polyps on it (pretty good deal at 5.99/lb). if i do let the tank go fallow for 4-6 weeks, will the ich be out of the tank?? i'm just so cotton pickin sick of this ich, as i've been dealing with it for about 2 months...:s
You've had it for 2 months? Surprised you didn't get a QT to treat. You'll want to leave the tank fallow for 6 weeks in my opinion. If you have fish you're treating for it I'd go to 8.

yeah, i've had ich in the tank for a long time, but i didn't get a QT at first because i didn't even know there was such a thing (i'm new at this, remember?? haha). i just found out about QTs about 3 weeks to a month ago, but i was told by someone that i could just use the coral vital and not worry about a QT. i already had a QT set up and everything (was planning on buying a copper-based med), but i took this person's advice about the coral vital (she was the owner of one of the LFS's in the area). it worked at first, and it just came back today. oh well, thankfully i don't have anything too expensive in the tank. grrrr....i guess it's just a learn-as-you-go process. i'm just ready to get rid of it because i want to add more stock to my tank (i really want a hippo tang....but way too $$$$ if ich is a possibility). at least ich isn't an issue for inverts!! i really like my crabs, snails, star, feather dusters, and blood shrimp!!
