Has anyone out there had problems with a fish looking "bent"? It's a fe dalmation molly, ? how old but not fully grown. Has been fine- has been out of quarantine tank for a week (was in there for 2 weeks) in last couple days it looks like she's getting humpy backed and she's bending sideways in the middle too. She still eats well and there is no other sign of disease. When in the tank she does seem to want to lay on the bottom and hide alot. I have put her in a breeding tank in the main tank-she seems more active in there. My water parimiters are fine, I check those with API liquid test kit- Amonia, NO2 & NO3. I do water changes of 25% (5 gal of 29 gal tank-figured decor takes up quite a bit of space) three times in 2 weeks or every 4-5 days. I would put her in my quarantine tank but have two new mollies in there already and they've only been there a week. I guess I need to set up a hospital tank too. What little I have found about this says it could be fish TB, parasites-(I have had anchor worms and have treated 2 for those twice-thats 2 treatements of 2 days a week apart with clout, I would think that would of taken care of parasites). That it could even be genetic (she did come out of a tank that had lots of mollies, varying from fry to adult. But I have read different opionions on what it could be. I'm unsure if I should take her out of the tank...Besides her, there are 3 other fe mollies, 1 m guppy and 2 fe guppies, a 1/4 grown fe guppy and another breeder box with 3 molly fry in it.The tank has been set up since Nov.08...what do you think?

Hi~ I had a fry that was bent and the suggestion that I received was that it may have tb. Or a genetic mutation. I am a beginner myself so I am just passing on info I have been given~ Good luck.

I'm no expert, but I have heard that having a bent fish or fry is common with live bearers. I think it has to do with them being inbred.

Thanks for your input-I have found the same things, could be TB, could be genetic-being new at this I'm still unsure if I should take her out of the tank or not....considering what I paid for her (not much) I think I'm going to go on the safe side and take her out...better than losing all the fish

If it looks like her backbone forms a little "S" and then continues on, it could be scoliosis (spelling?).

pics?

could be a number of things...also caused be emaciation.

females also have a tendancy to have a "humped back" after giving birth
