here are some pics comparing a 55 watt pc to a standard 20 watt. I do not think that the pictures show how much difference their really is. I wish I had a t5 to compare it also.

By the looks of it, the 55w lighting provided a shorter exposure while maintaining a better exposure. May not look like much in the pictures, but to a photographer, that's a big difference. :) Is this over a 10g tank?

Sorry, its a 20 long. I figured with all the lighting questions that come up some comparison pic might help some people out.

I'm sure the pictures will, even if they just take a quick glance. The newer picture is better exposed, showing an increase in light intensity. Basically, if it looks brighter, it must be brighter. I'll post an interesting experiment for ya later on, if I get some time this evening. :)

No way that is a 20 long. That tank is only 24 inches wide (20 high). A 20 long is 30 inches wide...

No it is not a 20 long, I screwed up. Its a 29 I do have a 20 below it that I swapped lights with for the picture. It is a 30 inch tank.
Assuming the aperture and the shutter speed were the same between pics, the 55 watt should be more than twice as bright which by itself it not that noticeably that different.
One thing to also note is that the overall lighting of the tank is truer than the 20 due to the bright light. My old tank used a 20 watt and the light looked a little green as the reflections of plants were able to dominate over the lighting fixture itself. I went with a T5 HO 96 watt and it's noticeably different.
