I'm buying a Nitrate Test kit online at Bigals. The Hagen is 3 bucks more than the AP. Biggest issue here is reliability, ease of use, and readability.

Either kit will give the results required to monitor N03 accurately.

HAGEN! I have the AP test and it's the biggest pain. You have to do 10 drops of bottle #1, shake for 10 seconds, then shake bottle #2 for 30 seconds, add 10 drops from that bottle, shake for 1 minute, then wait 5 minutes for the result. I'm not sure what the Hagen test is like, but it has to be easier than that :)
nope the hagen is just as bad, but easier to read then the ph kit.

How are the test colors on the Hagen kit? With the AP test it's pretty hard to tell the difference in color after 20mg/l.
I'd agree with caffeine -- I find it hard to tell the colors on the AP kit over 20. Is the Hagen any better? I've looked at the color chart on the Red Sea kit and it looks a bit better. And has anyone tried the Dry Tab dip strips for nitrate?
