the guppy is gone....the jack dempsey is mean....started fighting my green terror and the jd turned really blue and dark purple, then started scratching himself on a rock for a few seconds...

the red devil doesnt bother anyone at all.

the oscar eats lots of stuff, i just fed them ghost shrimp, they love it:)

I don't understand...

Of course Jack Dempsey's will eat a guppy...but what's your question? I'm not trying to be mean, but just trying to remind you in case you accidently hit "post" and forgot what you were going to ask.

Aggression has nothing to do with it. Guppies eat guppies all the time for heaven's sake.

I see you missed my sarcasm :D. He said his JD is mean because it ate a guppy along with fighting with a green terror. Need I say more. Can't a guy be a smart azz "for heavens sake"

 You are a smart azz, optix? I never knew that. Wow...I'm learning something new everyday. :D J/K

Anyway, guess what, I don't have female con and firemouth anymore. Guess who killed them? My crazy female JD. One mourning, I found my Firemouth floating on the top. Few days later, I found my female convict dry and hard on the floor. She jumped the tank to escape the JD (there was a small hole at the corner less than an inch big). JD must be going crazy on the con for her to squeeze through that area. Poor little thing. Oh well, now I get an excuse to get more fish :D

Since I removed my firemouth and female con from my 100 gallon my male JD has blown up. I say male because he doesnt have blue specks on the lower part of his gill plate, thats correct right? He has grown a half inch in about a week or two and seems to be very pugnacios as well, but he doesnt bother my 5" green terror a lick. Guess that just means he is smart, heh.

My JD doesn't bother my GT either. And my GT only cares about eating and chasing my Gouramis :D

My GT likes to chase my 2 " firemouth. eventually I will either trade in the firemouth or put him in my 55. I have a stone with holes just big enough for the firemouth to fit through. its funny cause the GT will try to fit through and then just back up.

Hmmm good point db, I don't see how I missed that. That RD is gonna bring hellspawn in the next few months.

Like I said, the RD will s how his/her true color. Not now but later. I have never seen a full grown RD being peaceful when house in a small tank with other fish. The JD is aggressive now, but not for long.

Jack dempseys seem to get more agressive as they age/get bigger. Earlier in the year, my jack dempsey peacefully lived with a blue gourami, but now the dempsey even goes at the pleco (only other fish in the tank now).

This guy I know has a 40 gallon with a 7" JD female in it. The only fish he has been able to keep for any time with it was a male con. Then he adds an blue johanni. I told him that was a BAD idea, but this guy does water changes every 2 months or so. So I saw him like two weeks later and he was telling me how his JD was carrying his johannis head around in its mouth and how he put two 5" pacus in his tank.. He refuses to listen to reason. He kind of reminds me of a that thread with a guy with the 10 gallon with the oscar in it.

that guy with 2 5" pacus sounds kinda like me, except my tank is a 55g and the pacus are like 9-10". he wil soon realize the pacus were a problem since they wont get eaten they will just jump outta the tank a lot and splash water EVERYWHERE! it sucks so much! and then the LFS' wont take them even if u paid them, i told the lfs i would give them $10 to take my 2 9" red-Bellied pacus and they still wouldnt do it! i need to get rid of them and imn not gonna put them in a lake.

But that guy will soon regret the pacu decision.
