29g with 110w and pressurized co2.

My plan was this:
Background = contortionist vals
focal point = Ludwigia peruensis
to the sides of ludwigia = red melon swords
foreground = crypts and anubias nana

Before ordering I decided to double check the max sizes, and both the red melon swords and the ludwigia grow to around 20"? That is taller than a 29g, so the vals won't even be seen, and these mid plants are going to be growing to the surface. When sites suggest these for midground plants, they apparently have huge tanks in mind, because a 29g tank isn't exactly short of height.

What would you do, considering the look I'm going for? I want touches of red, and I am in love with the red melon sword if it really looks like this! Do the melon swords and ludwigia really get that big with high light and co2? Maybe I should leave the ludwigia out and use 1 red melon sword for a centerpiece?

And what about the foreground... I am not dead set on crypts and anubias. I was going to toss some in because I already have some I could propagate if needed. Maybe I need a greener, shorter foreground, like a ground cover.

I'm horrible at aquascaping, but really trying to do it right this time.

Melon swords get pretty huge.

I'd also include (at least initially) something really fast growing to act as a sponge while you get your ferts figured out (Hygro, Najas, wisteria...). Try not to make it really symmetrical.

Okay I went with 1 red melon sword, 4 ludwigia, vals, and dwarf baby tears for the foreground. I'll get some anacharis from Mg to float in there until the rest fills in more. I hope they'll all look good together.... and fit in the 29!
