I know that a 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium is "recommended" for people when they take calcium supplements. Does anyone know why? I assume it's because it helps you absorb all the calcium? If this is true, do you think it also applies to inverts?

Do you think there's any harm in trying it?

If you try it, I would pick one "test subject". I wouldn't bother. Do you have snails? I only see shrimp in your sig. I would only be tempted to try and increase the efficacy of them getting calcium if you had a snail who was having significant shell issues.

I've heard in people the calcium can have a constipating effect, the magnesium has a bit of a laxitive effect to balance things out. I don't think I'd bother for the inverts.

I only have shrimp(unless you count the pond snails and mts). I won't bother putting magnesium in the food. The last thing I want is a disaster.
