View Full Version : What to do with babies (way to many!)

I have 6 neolamprologus multifasciatus in a ten gallon tank ( soon to move to a 20 long),

3 of the 4 females now have fry. I counted at least 30! Anyway, not all will live of course, 2 are a lot older than the rest. The majority of them are about 3-4 weeks old. What am I to do with them? Just let nature take its course? Weaker ones will die while the more robust will live?

And when I move them into the 20 I have a feeling I am going to be over-run with babies!!! The LFS that I really had a good relationship with closed its doors this week for good. There really isn't any where to dump them off at (pet stores).

Sorry, needed to whine a bit...

Maybe you could ust put them in a different tank until you can give them to you lfs.

That's probably what I will do when I put them in the other tank. I don't really want anything to big, but something that will take care of the stray fry, the ones that survive will probably be o.k.

Which LFS is closed? I hope its not 'Just for Pets' :(

Over run with babies? Na, I've had over 5000 fry in the past couple months.

I have a cousin who has a large African tank that is going to take some of them. After a recent water change I noticed fewer babies. Maybe ten are left now. It is so hot here they would probably die before I got them to the ups office!!!!!!
