is it ok to leave food in the system?

I have a new tailspot blenny and he eats slow but seemingly wants to eat constantly.

Is it ok to leave a formula 2 cube or nori in there for him to pick at? or will this cause extra nutrients?

Leaving Nori in there is fine, but i would not leave the cube food in there else you'll soon end up with elevated nutrients as the food would rot away, causing ammonia and then on through the bacteria chain..

Main reason for not doing so - as what Niko said. But also, depending on your other tankmates, I doubt it would be your blenny that got the food.

I agree about the cube. If the cube is still intact by the way that means the binders used to keep it formed are still in there and those tend to be high in phosphates. It is recommended that you thaw the cube and then rinse it.

Isn't the point of the binder for the cube to stay intact while in your tank???

In theory, yes, indeed....However, in practice, its all different when the phosphates start to be added to your tank..
