I have a 10gal that currently has a pair of Gold Rams, I also have a pair of German Blue Rams in my 55gal and I am pretty sure the female is ready to spawn. Would I be overstocking my 10gal if I added the pair of Blue Germans? I was thinking of getting a tank divider, would this help with territory issues?

I'm guessing this thread was meant for the freshwater forums, so I'm moving it for you...

you could move the golds to the 55, and move the GBR's over to the 10, so they would be alone.

I think I am going to have to get another 10gal... I want to keep the gold rams seperate becuase she already spawned once when I had her in my 55gal but my khuli loaches ate the eggs :( at the time I didnt know she was going to spawn because I only had her and a male German Blue Ram.

10 gallons is to small for rams.
get two 15 gallons (footprint of a 20H) and then use the 10 to raise the fry or as a QT tank.

move them both to the 55
10 gallons is to small for rams.it should be enough room for a breeding pair.... normally i'd say no though.

I have decided I am going to leave the Gold Rams alone in the 10gal, I will hopefully have a new 15gal soon that I can put my German Blue Rams in. Thank you everyone for your advice and suggestions :)

Despite them being a mated pair or not, they should be in a minimum of a 20 long.

Despite them being a mated pair or not, they should be in a minimum of a 20 long.I concur... my reccomendation of a 10G is ONLY for the duration of caring for eggs/fry... for ordinary living a 20G should be the minimum.

OH for sure, I am going to move the Gold Rams back to my 55gal once the fry are ready to be on their own, its just my German Blue Ram looks like she is ready to drop some eggs TODAY and I really didnt want to watch my Khulis eat the eggs again, too sad :( I dont think that I can have a tank up and cycled to house my Blue Rams in time, my female Gold is also looking like she is ready to spawn again soon. I really was not preapared for my fish to start breeding, I only set up my first 10gal back in November. Argh I need to get another big tank, what do you guys call that, muitple tank syndrome :grinyes:
