Escape to Witch Mountain, Star Wars, The Muppet Movie

although I tried to share the first one with my son when he was younger and I had to agree with him, with the upgrades in movie making since then it did kind of suck

I think when I was a kid, I had 3... Black Beauty (the cartoon), Watership Down (a cpmplete and pure classic in all senses), and the original Charlotte's Web. As far as adult movies, I would have to say "Hair". Saw that one hundreds of times and still love it as much as the first time. Another "the Car".

Though they were old by the time I was born but I loved all the Abbot and Costello movies that didn't have to do with monsters, they were cheesy, and the Dagwood/Blondie movies.

For more of a my time movie I'd have to say Star Wars and The Black Hole, though I wouldn't watch them now. About the only movies I still watch from as a kid/teen are the Nightmare on Elm Sts and the Friday the 13ths.

They didn't have movies when RB was a kid. If he wanted to watch a cowboy/Indian flick he just looked out his window.

Probably the Wizard of Oz. No DVD or VHS back then, so you could watch it exactly once a year, when it came on TV. It was such a big deal!
Also, all the Christmas shows: Grinch, Rudolph, Charlie Brown Christmas, Year Without a Santa Claus (that was the one with Heat Miser).

and before the vhs were the beta tapes and cable tv where the cable was actually controlled by this "cable box" that ran off a cord that attached to the tv... before that, it was changing the tv by dial... oh those times...

Im ashamed to say this but me and my little sis had to have watched Grease like 1,000 times, to this day when I hear any of the songs from the movie I cant get them out of my head. A couple others were Goonies, Big trouble in little china, the neverending story and Indiana Jones and the temple of doom.

I was about 8 when Jaws came out, and many of my freinds saw it. I lived in Hawaii at the time and my family spent a lot of time playing in the ocean. My mom refused to let me see the movie because she thought it would make scared to go in the ocean. I was pissed! I mostly wanted to see it becuase my friend told me there was a "nekkid lady" in the first scene. :grinyes:

I eventually did see it once VHS tapes got invented, it was a great movie (the fabled "nekkid lady" unfortunately did not live up to my fantasies). The sequels sucked though.

I am not sure when I stopped being a kid.

My early favorites were:

Herbie the Love Bug
The Apple Dumpling Gang
Cinderella

On TV I always looked forward to the Charlie Brown specials and the Wizard of Oz.

I remember seeing "Star Wars" at the theater and going as often as possible. I stood in line to see "The Empire Strikes Back" on the first day (got into the second showing). I skipped school to wait in line to see "Return of the Jedi".

IceH2O
03-25-2008, 5:48 PM
I made my dad travel 50 miles to go see Star Wars the 1st day it came out. We waited in line till midnight and caught the last showing. I fell asleep about midway through the movie, had to be about 9 yrs old, but my dad is a scifi fan anyway so it wasn't a total loss.

My all time favorite tv show as a kid were The Little Rascals. You can't top that comedy.

I hate the Wizard of Oz so much that if its on tv and is watched in my home I leave even though I could watch anything on any of the other 4 tvs we have.

Man, I'm old. I saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in a theater when I was little. I think I even stayed awake through all of it.

I never caught onto the Littlest Hobo...

I did stand in line for day one tickets to The Empire Strikes Back (I was a punk freshman who had the luck to score a date w/ a sophomore (!) girl for that one).
