This is mainly about salt water fishes, but it could apply to some fresh water too.

How much would you pay for a fish?

The reason I bring this up, is I was wishing over at LiveAquaria and I saw "the Diver's Den". Being the curious sort, I clicked on it and was presented with some very rare (supposedly, how would I know?) fish given on a first come first serve basis.

This link is for a not unattractive 7" trigger fish. At the low price of $399.99. There was a tang that was going for twice that. They had some beautiful wrasses, I would be happy to have in my tank, but not for $80 for a 3" fish.

Besides, with my luck, they'd die as soon as they got into my tank.

So what so you think, how much to pay for a fish?

That's crazy! I have a hard time paying $399.00 for a DOG!

Do they come with a 30 year warranty? Probably come with a lifetime gaurantee....gauranteed until it's dead.

I probably wouldn't pay $35 or more for a FW fish, but for a SW fish.... that's to easy.

i would spent about 35 or more and have on shrimp...but i don't think i could spend that much on a fish unless like mgamer said you could breed it

Some of the SP. of fish that are found in the Divers Den, i feel, should not be made for sale because most are very rare and should be left out in the ocean.

To answer the question though, i would not pay the ammounts they ask for these fish on principle...

Heck, I have paid $1800 for a dog...a $100 bucks for the fish I want doesn't seem out of line.

get a rescue dog, what you do for them is priceless!

i think i should set up www.fishrescue.org (http://www.fishrescue.org)

go on a mission to save goldfish from bowls, put them in a huge pond and rehome them...

While I haven't spent that much in the past, I would probably spend $100-$150 on a fish...

A few years back I saw a zebra pleco (a 'real' zebra pleco, and not one of the many types that they're just calling zebra plecos now). I really dug the fish, but the LFS wanted $135 for it. As I thought my wife would kill me, I settled for a $17 clown pleco at the time. 6-7 years later I still have the clown pleco (and really like him), but wish I had popped for the zebra..

Up to 100 was my vote, the small Discus around here seem to be around 40 to 100,........:)

I voted 35$, but for a good fish that I could breed easily I would pay up to 100$. I would pay probably up to 200$ for a "special" arowana or other impressive giant.

$200 is my limit, but I'd prefer to keep it under $100.

I said $100 although I've not paid that yet.
